These templates provide a blank foundation, giving you a flexible starting point for building your own custom island layout and gameplay experience.
Publishing Islands
To publish Star Wars islands, you must be a member of the Fortnite Developer Program and opt into additional terms and conditions for the brand in the Creator Portal. Your island must also align with the brand guidelines. To learn more about the brand rules, see STAR WARS™ Brand Rules.
IARC Audience Restrictions
Any islands that you create must have an age-appropriate rating. The Creator Portal is set up to guide you through this process as part of the island publishing workflow. As a general rule, you should create your island with all audiences in mind.
For more information about the rating system, see IARC Overview and FAQs.
At launch, your island will appear in the brand-specific category under the Game Collections row of Discover. To learn more, see How Discover Works.
Using STAR WARS Characters
You can use Star Wars iconic figures and themed characters in both Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative by placing them with supported spawning devices. These characters are included as part of the Star Wars brand content and work wherever character outfits or NPCs can be used, giving you flexibility to create dynamic gameplay, narrative moments, and cinematic encounters with familiar Star Wars characters.
You can spawn these characters from devices that use character outfits, such as:
When placing one of these devices in your level, open the Details panel and select the appropriate Star Wars character from the Character Cosmetic dropdown to assign a specific character model. For the NPC Spawner, create or select a character definition and use the Character Cosmetic NPC Modifier to assign the Star Wars character to the NPC. This setup can be used to bring heroes, villains, and supporting characters into your gameplay experience.
Star Wars characters include custom dialogue themed for their character types. When used with the Guard Spawner Devices, characters can trigger contextual dialogue during gameplay.
You can find the character assets by navigating to the Star Wars™ Content > Characters folder.

Ridable Tauntaun
The rideable Tauntaun offers players the ability to mount and traverse your island on a classic Star Wars creature, adding a unique mode of movement and ambiance to your environments. This creature comes with preset controls so players can move and explore without needing custom setup.
To create and customize the Tauntaun’s behavior and stats, you must create an NPC Character Definition in UEFN only. By applying modifiers to the Tauntaun’s character definition, you can adjust elements such as model variants, animation sets, sounds, or other aesthetic properties to better fit your island’s theme and narrative.
A predefined rideable Tauntaun character definition is also available. This asset can be placed directly into your island to quickly add a rideable Tauntaun with default settings.
You can find a predefined rideable Tauntaun Character Definition by navigating to the Star Wars™ Content > AI folder.
For more information on creating character definitions and applying modifiers, see NPC Character Definition.
Llamataun
The Llamataun is a Star Wars inspired hideout prop that blends the familiar Fortnite llama with the look of a Tauntaun. This interactive prop gives players a place to hide while gradually restoring health.
For more information, see Hiding Prop Gallery Devices.
You can find the Llamataun in UEFN only by navigating to the Star Wars™ Content > Devices folder.

Items
Give players new ways to move and fight with the iconic Mandalorian Jetpack, Thermal Imploder, Disguise Kit, Rebel Air Strike, and Imperial Air Strike, adding fun traversal, disguises, and combat options to your island.
You can find these assets by navigating to the Star Wars™ Content > Items folder.
| Mandalorian Jetpack | Enhanced Mandalorian Jetpack | Thermal Imploder |
|---|---|---|
The Mandalorian Jetpack provides aerial movement for players. While airborne, players can continue to wield weapons and use healing items, giving them mobility and flexibility during gameplay. The item can be placed on your island like other equipment and supports standard interaction and usage mechanics, providing players with vertical movement while maintaining combat and utility options. | The Enhanced Mandalorian Jetpack item provides sustained aerial movement with two flight modes that support both combat and traversal. Players can hover in place to aim and shoot, or switch to a head-forward high-speed flight mode for faster movement across the island. When activated, the jetpack launches the player into the air and supports controlled flight while fuel remains. When airborne, players can ascend or descend to adjust their height. Descending returns the player to the ground with normal landing behavior. If the jetpack runs out of fuel while in use, the player automatically descends. | The Thermal Imploder is a utility item that can be added to your island and used during gameplay. It can be placed in the world or included in containers, similar to other utility items. When thrown, the Thermal Imploder lands and detonates after a short delay. The explosion creates a large blast that deals damage to structures and applies a knockback to any player within the blast radius. The Thermal Imploder supports standard item behavior and integrates with existing gameplay systems, enabling it to be used alongside other Star Wars and Fortnite-themed items and weapons. |
| Disguise Kit | Rebel Air Strike / Imperial Air Strike | |
You can add the Disguise Kit to your island and place them for players to collect. Once in their inventory, players can switch between disguises during gameplay and change their appearance. Taking damage or attacking removes the disguise and returns you to your original outfit. Available disguises include over 50 variations, such as Civilian, Rebel Trooper, Moon Trader, Mandalorian, Storm Trooper, and other themed variants. | The Rebel Air Strike and Imperial Air Strike provide an aerial strike that targets the thrown location. After impact, multiple strikes rain down in quick succession, dealing damage to players and structures within the area. The Rebel Air Strike and Imperial Air Strike support standard item behavior and integrates with existing gameplay systems, enabling it to be used alongside other Star Wars and Fortnite-themed items and weapons. |
The Disguise Device can be used alongside the Disguise Kit. When configured, taking damage or attacking returns you to the Disguise Device appearance instead of your original outfit. To learn more, see Disguise Devices.
Force Powers
Force powers are available as items in the shape of holocrons that you can place on your island to provide players with Force-based abilities. These powers are focused on combat interactions, offering enhanced battles with signature Star Wars abilities. They provide a way to bring iconic Star Wars combat abilities to your island without modifying core mechanics.
Available Force powers include a range of offensive and utility abilities. Disguise Devices
