Star Wars™ visual effects (VFX) add recognizable energy and motion to your island. These effects enhance gameplay using themed visuals inspired by the Star Wars universe. In Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) you can use the Niagara system to create custom VFX.
You can find the Star Wars VFX in UEFN only.
Dogfight
The dogfight VFX is designed to add aerial combat visuals to your island using X-wings and TIE Fighters. This feature is a visual effect that creates the appearance of an ongoing Star Wars style space battle within your island, helping set the tone and atmosphere without impacting gameplay.
When enabled, starfighters fly across the sky and engage each other based on the settings you configure. You can control how frequently ships appear, how they move across the island, and how active the battle feels, from distant flyovers to constant dogfighting overhead.
You can find these assets in UEFN only by navigating to the Star Wars™ Content > VFX > Background folder.
The dogfight is intended as a visual layer:
Ships cannot be damaged or interacted with.
Combat does not affect players or the environment.
No gameplay advantages or disadvantages are introduced.
This makes the dogfight ideal for:
Large battle scenarios that need added scale and intensity.
Cinematic moments or background action.
Roleplay and narrative-driven islands that benefit from ambient conflict.
Use the dogfight to reinforce the feeling of a galaxy at war while keeping your core gameplay focused and uninterrupted.
