Use the body controls to blend, model, or conform your character’s body and shape their body features to the desired likeness.
To customize the body, navigate to the Body tool in the ribbon menu.
From the Body tool you can adjust the body using:
Blend Controls: Blend between three presets, in local regions or globally across the body.
Model Controls: Enable proportion changes based on semantic and measurement-based inputs, or one of the fixed (compatibility) bodies.
Conform Controls: Create a body by importing a DNA file or using a static or skeletal mesh in the MetaHuman topology.
Autorig results may be imperfect for bodies outside of the database range.
Body Parameters
When working with the Blend controls, some additional parameters control the modelling behaviour. These are:
Global Delta: when conforming meshes, the underlying body model cannot represent the input data perfectly, and the remaining residual is represented as vertex and bone delta. The slider can be used to define whether to apply the vertex delta.
Reset Body Parameters: resets the body parameters to the archetype.
Parametric Bodies
Parametric Bodies enable you to define custom body proportions for your character. This gives a significant improvement to creator freedom of expression, extending many of the same toolsets previously only available for MetaHuman heads. This allows you to create a diverse range of human body types to fulfil your creative vision. These new parametric bodies are delivered textured, rigged and ready to animate and are fully integrated with the head.
Example Workflows
It is possible to combine use of the body editing controls to achieve the desired likeness.
For example, you may start by blending between three presets to achieve an approximation of the body shape, and then continue to make further adjustments using the parametric modeling tools.
Or, you can conform the body from external data authored in another application (as long as it meets the MetaHuman topology and rig definition) and then continue making further adjustments using the parametric modeling tools.
