The following tables describe the settings specific to the Foliage materials in Twinmotion. For information on all other settings not mentioned on this page, see Settings for Standard Materials.
Main
Color
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Backface fade | Use this slider to simulate the effect where the back face of foliage appears paler than the front. Options: 0% to 100% |
| Tint | |
Color | Opens the color picker, where you can select a color to tint the base color texture. |
Tint color mask | A user-defined texture that defines which areas of the base color texture are tinted. It is a black and white image, where black represents the areas that are not tinted (masked) and white represents the areas that are tinted. |
Invert | If enabled, inverts the black and white areas of the Tint color mask. |
Translucency
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Translucency amount | Defines how much light transmits through the surface from the lit side to the dark side that faces away from the light source. The color of this effect is modulated by the texture of the base color. By default, the value is 0.5. Options: 0.0 to 1.0 |
| Details | |
Translucency map | A user-defined texture map that masks the Translucency amount value. It is a grayscale image where dark values occlude light transmission and bright values allow light transmission. |
Translucency saturation | Controls the saturation of the base color's effect on any light that passes through the material. Options: 0.1 to 2.0 |
Ambient occlusion
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Intensity | In the Real time Standard rendering mode, this setting adjusts the amount of ambient light occlusion at the core of the object the material is applied to. This setting is not available in the Lumen or Path tracer rendering modes, as they both have more precise built-in light occlusion |
Foliage and seasons
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Use global seasons | When selected, the seasonal color and leaf variations of the Foliage material automatically follow the Twinmotion seasons and weather conditions defined in the Ambience panel under the Env > Season category. |
Force season | When Force season is selected, the seasonal life cycle of vegetation and the color of leaves (set in the Foliage seasonal slider in the Ambience panel) are overridden and controlled by the Foliage seasonal slider in this section, and the Season color and Leaves lifecycle settings. |
Season color | Depending on the gradient you choose, this setting determines the color of the material over the course of the seasons. Options:
|
Leaves lifecycle | Depending on the gradient you choose, this setting determines when leaves or flowers grow or fall over the course of the seasons. Options:

Attributes
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Affected by wind | If enabled, the vegetation reacts to the wind Speed and Direction settings defined in the Ambience panel under Env > Wind. |
Sway | When Affected by wind is enabled, the vegetation sways back and forth following the wind speed and direction. |
Rigid | When Affected by wind is enabled, this setting decreases the effect of the wind on the material. This can be useful for rigid foliage, such as bark, that is not affected by wind as much as lightweight foliage such as leaves. |
