In addition to the built-in Epic, High, and Medium presets, you can create custom render settings profiles in MetaHuman Creator. Custom profiles are useful for previewing how a MetaHuman looks with your project's specific render configuration — for example, Lumen quality settings, ray tracing settings, or screen percentage values.
To create a custom render settings profile, follow these steps:
In MetaHuman Creator, open the Preview Scene Details tab.
Select an existing preset and clone it as a starting point.
Modify the render settings to match your project's requirements.
MetaHuman Creator saves the profile automatically. You can reuse it across multiple MetaHuman Characters.
Applying Creative Looks
Render settings profiles are not limited to quality settings. You can also use them to preview MetaHumans with different creative looks. For example, create a profile with specific color grading, grain, and bloom settings to see how MetaHumans appear with your project's visual style.
The images below show a “crunchy” and a “soft” look, respectively.
You can extend this further by assigning a post-process material to a render settings profile.
Sharing Render Profiles
Custom Render Setting Profiles are stored in <ProjectDir>/Config/DefaultMetaHumanCharacter.ini alongside all MetaHuman Character settings. If you are working with UGS and Perforce, you can submit this so other developers can also use your profiles when using MetaHuman Creator. The settings can also be exported from Project Settings if needed.
