You can animate the objects in your scenes using the Translator and Rotator tools.
The Translator and Rotator tools are both components of the Animator tools in Twinmotion. You can find them in the Tools > Animators category in the Twinmotion Library.
The Animator tools also include the Exploder tool, which you can use to create exploded view animations. For more information, see Exploder Tool.
All Animator tools (also referred to as animators) animate objects in different ways, and share most of the same settings.
For a brief overview of the Animator tools and information on how to work with them, see the Animator Tools page.
For information on the settings for the Animator tools (including the Translator and Rotator tools), see Animator Tools Reference.
Translator Tool
The Translator tool animates objects and parts of objects by moving them along the x, y, or z axes of the 3D coordinate system.
The Tools > Animators > Translators category in the library contains the following items:
The Translator tool you use to create translation animations.
Several templates that demonstrate some of the animations you can create with the Translator tool.
Drag the templates into the scene to view the animations, and use the templates to create custom animations by replacing the objects in the templates with your own and modifying the settings.
Translator Tool Templates
The following types of translator templates are available in the Tools > Animators > Translators category of the Twinmotion Library.
Outward
By default, this template translates objects vertically by moving them along the z-axis, starting at the bottom position on the Starting ground and towards the top position.
Inward
By default, this template translates objects vertically by moving them along the z-axis, starting at the top position and towards the bottom position on the Starting ground.
Cascade out
By default, this template translates objects vertically by moving them along the z-axis and cascading them, starting at the bottom position on the Starting ground and towards the top position.
Cascade in
By default, this template translates objects vertically by moving them along the z-axis and cascading them, starting at the top position and towards the bottom position on the Starting ground.
Sliding Door
By default, the translator in this template is set to Collision mode, and translates a sliding door by moving it along the x-axis. In the video above, the door opens and closes depending on how close or far away the viewport camera is to the collision trigger zone.
Industrial Gate
By default, the translator in this template is set to Collision mode, and translates an industrial gate by moving it along the x-axis. In the video above, two industrial gates open and close depending on whether the vehicles are inside or outside the collision trigger zones.
Retractable Bollard
By default, the translator in this template is set to Collision mode, and translates a bollard by moving it along the z-axis. In the video above, a character path was added to show how the bollard is lowered when characters enter the collision trigger zone.
Rotator Tool
The Rotator tool animates objects and parts of objects by rotating them in space along a specified angle.
The Rotators category in the library includes the following items:
The Rotator tool you use to create rotating animations.
A selection of templates that show you how you can use the Rotator tool to create rotating animations of objects.
You can drag the templates into the scene to view the animations, and use the templates to create custom animations by replacing the objects in the templates with your own and modifying the settings.
Rotator Tool Templates
The following types of rotator templates are available in the Tools > Animators > Rotators category of the Twinmotion Library.
Continuous
By default, this template rotates objects continuously at a full rotation angle of 360 degrees.
Wave stagger
By default, this template rotates objects continuously, using a staggered effect, at a full rotation angle of 360 degrees.
Rotating Door
By default, this template opens and closes a door in Collision mode. The door opens only when a collision trigger (such as a walking character) enters the defined collision trigger zone.
Children Roundabout
By default, this template rotates a children's roundabout continuously at a full rotation angle of 360 degrees. In the video above, a character was added and parented to the rotator in order to have it follow the movement of the rotation.
Lifting Barrier
By default, this template opens and closes a barrier in Collision mode. The barrier opens only when a collision trigger (such as a vehicle) enters the defined collision trigger zone.
