When you open Twinmotion, by default the Home panel automatically appears.
The Home panel is your starting point for working in Twinmotion. In the Home panel, you can do the following:
Create a new scene and open existing scenes.
Select the Home, Templates, Learning, Plugins, or Library packs tabs in the sidebar.
In the Home tab, access your most recent scenes, see the latest Twinmotion news, and get inspired by projects created by our Twinmotion Community.
In the Templates tab, download and open ready-made visualization templates. Featuring predefined assets and carefully designed lighting and settings, you can use them as the basis for your own projects to get a head-start.
In the Learning tab, access online courses, tutorials, and resources, and open the Materials Room and Lakehouse Retreat demo scenes.
In the Plugins tab, find the Datasmith Exporter plugins you need to import your content into Twinmotion.
In the Library packs tab, download the Starter or Standard Library Packs to gain access to the Twinmotion assets in the library.
Control if you want to show or hide the Home panel when you open Twinmotion.

Get quick access to the most recent scenes you’ve been working on.
Create a New Scene
To start a new project using the Twinmotion default scene, click New scene.
This scene is ideal for starting new projects from scratch and customizing all aspects of your scene. This basic scene contains a Starting ground, Starting landscape, and Starting base, and the lighting is provided by the Twinmotion Dynamic sky.
You can also create a new scene in Twinmotion by going to File > New scene.
Open a Scene
Open an Existing Scene
To open existing Twinmotion scenes, click Open to browse your projects and select the one you want to open.
You can also open your projects in Twinmotion by going to File > Open.
Open a Recent Scene
In the Home tab under Recent scenes, you can view and quickly access the most recent projects you’ve been working on.
You can also access your recent projects in Twinmotion by going to File > Open recent.
Open a Template
The Templates tab in the Home panel includes free visualization templates you can download and use to get a jump start on your projects. Each template features ready-made starting scenes with lighting and settings you can use as a basis to create high-quality media in Twinmotion.
Open a template, import your project, and experiment with the available images, videos, and options in the Scene graph to quickly create professional quality visuals.
To view a description for a template, hover over the title of the template in the Home panel.

Learn to Use Twinmotion
Whether you’re a first-time user or an experienced user, the Learning tab provides access to courses, tutorials, and resources to help you learn and make the most of Twinmotion. Written by Twinmotion experts, the courses and tutorials are ideal for getting to know the features of Twinmotion and discovering tips and tricks.
You can also access them in the Learning Library on the Epic Games Developer Community and on Twinmotion’s YouTube channel.
The Learning tab also contains links to the Twinmotion documentation and the official Twinmotion Support Community.
From the Learning tab, you can also open the Twinmotion Materials Room and Lakehouse Retreat demo scenes. See how typical Twinmotion projects are structured and what you can achieve using Twinmotion’s extensive library of physically-based materials, assets, lights, tools, and Ambience settings for indoor and outdoor settings.
The Lakehouse retreat demo scene also contains a large selection of ready-made images, videos, panoramas, Panorama sets, and Presentations that showcase the powerful rendering capabilities of Twinmotion.
Get the Plugins
In the Plugins tab, you can find links to download the Datasmith Exporter plugins for all the design applications that support them.
You can use the Datasmith Exporter plugins to import content from most major design applications into Twinmotion. If your design application supports it, you can also synchronize the content between your design application in real time or on demand. For more information, refer to Importing with Datasmith.
Certain design applications have built-in Datasmith Exporter plugins that do not need to be downloaded and installed. In the Plugins tab, these are shown in the Third party software with built-in export section.
Download Twinmotion Library Packs
The library in Twinmotion contains an extensive collection of Twinmotion assets. Most of these assets are stored on a dedicated server online and need to be downloaded to your computer before you can use them. You can download Twinmotion assets directly from the library, or download them as bundles from the Library packs tab in the Home panel.
The Starter Library Pack is a lightweight subset of the Standard Library Pack, and is suitable for quick installations, testing, or demos. The Standard Library Pack is suitable for production use and includes all the Twinmotion assets.
Show or Hide the Home Panel
To hide the Home panel, click the Close ( X ) icon at the top right corner of the panel.
By default, the Home panel appears each time you start Twinmotion. If you prefer to keep it hidden, deselect the Show on startup checkbox at the bottom left of the panel. The next time you open Twinmotion, the Home panel will be hidden.
You can always access the Home panel within Twinmotion by clicking the Home panel icon or going to File > Show Home panel.
