The Scout Spire is a device that automatically attacks approaching players in its target radius with a charged laser.
You can use the device to create challenging gameplay, such as:
Placing spires to guard a special treasure or protect an area of your island.
Use spires to target certain teams or classes in an arena battle.
Pair the Scout Spire with the Overlord Spire and Spire Spike to create the ultimate gauntlet.
Use the Enabled and Disabled functions to create a challenge players need to complete before they can destroy the Scout Spire.
Device Options
The Scout Spire has a number of settings that can be used to create a new game mechanic or simply place the device in the project and use its default settings. Creative, default values are bold. Values that trigger contextual filtering to provide more options are italic.

Spawn at Game Start | On, Off | Determines whether or not to spawn the Scout Spire at the start of the match. |
Enabled at Game Start | On, Off | Determines whether or not the device is active when the Scout Spire spawns. When deactivated, the Scout Spire is unresponsive to players and only a device event can activate it. |
Start with Shield | On, Off | Determines if the Scout Spire starts the match with its vulnerable shields up. After the game starts, the Scout Spire’s shield is controlled by events. |
Maximum Health | 500.0, Select an amount | Determines the maximum health of the Scout Spire. |
Target Team | Any, Select a Team | Determines which team(s) the Scout Spire targets and damages with attacks. |
Invert Target Team | On, Off | Determines if the Target Team should be inverted. |

Functions
The Scout Spire’s functions expand its gameplay possibilities and can be used to create unique game mechanics.
Option | Description |
Enable | Enables the spire to activate once a target player enters the area. |
Disable | Disables the spire, stopping it from performing any attacks or reacting to players. |
Enable Shield | Enables the invulnerable shield, preventing damage to the spire. |
Disable Shield | Disables the invulnerable shield, providing a way for players to damage the spire. |
Spawn | Brings the spire back into play. |
Despawn | Removes the spire from play. |
Destroy | Destroys the spire by setting its health to zero. |
Refill Health | Replenishes the spire’s health back to its Max Health. |
Reset | Resets the spire to its initial state. |
Events
Events in UEFN are read-only, you cannot edit them. When setting a function on a different device that binds to an event on the Scout Spire device, the event is automatically set on the Scout Spire.
In Creative, you can link events to functions, and functions to events. Below are a list of events that can be used to bind a Scout Spire to another device.

On Active | Sends an event when the spire is activated and the encounter begins. |
On Deactivate | Sends an event when the spire is deactivated from players leaving the area, or from being disabled. |
On Destroyed | Sends an event after the spire is destroyed. |
On Laser Fire | Sends an event when the spire shoots its laser attack. The event triggers once, even if it shoots multiple times. |
On Laser Charge Start | Sends an event when the spire starts to charge its laser. |
