The rating screen is a step in the Creator Portal publishing process where you receive an age rating for your island. All islands in Discover receive an age rating and you cannot publish an island without one.
Age Ratings and the IARC Questionnaire
Age ratings help players choose which Fortnite content and experiences are right for them. Age ratings can also help parents decide which islands their child can access via Parental Controls.
The IARC questionnaire is a set of questions about your island’s content based on topics that the participating rating authorities consider important to evaluate (such as violence, sexuality, or electronic transactions). At the end of the questionnaire, the island receives an age rating that the creator can update or appeal later on.
Receive an IARC Rating
In this section, you’ll learn how to complete the Creator Portal’s rating screen and receive an age rating for your island. For a complete tutorial on how to publish an island, see Publishing from Creator Portal.
To receive an age rating, follow these steps:
On the Rating screen, enter your email address in the Email for IARC communications field.
You can use your island’s public customer service email or provide a different one.
In the Country of origin dropdown, choose your country.
Click Begin questionnaire.
Under App Type, select one of the three app types that best describes your island:
Game: Video games (all genres) or betting apps.
Social or Communication: Apps for communication between users, such as social media.
All Other App Types: Apps that don’t involve gaming or social networking, such as stores or lifestyle apps.
Click Next.
Answer a series of yes/no questions about your island’s content and click Submit Questionnaire.
Your responses must accurately reflect the content in your project. For more information about the terms and questions used in the IARC questionnaire, see Considerations When Responding to the IARC Questionnaire.
To accept the rating, select the checkbox. To correct any mistakes in your submission, click Back to questionnaire and re-submit your answers.
To complete the rating process, click Finish.
To proceed to the Promotional Media screen, click Next.
