The 3D grass material in Twinmotion provides the means for you to add photorealistic three-dimensional grass to objects and surfaces in your scene. The following tables describe the settings for the 3D grass material in Twinmotion.
For an overview of this material, see 3D Grass Material.
Main
Presets
Shows the name and thumbnail of the selected preset.
Clicking the thumbnail opens the Presets window, which is divided into the following sections:
Personal presets: Contains the Add ( + ) button and the personal presets you create. To create a custom preset, change the settings of the 3D grass material, and click the Add ( + ) button.
Presets: Contains a collection of carefully designed 3D grass presets composed of various types of grasses and accent meshes.
The 3D grass presets are as follows: Default, Standard, Stadium, Hot summer, Daisies, Violets, Clovers, Weeds, Field, Yellow flowers, Field poppies, Daffodils, Desert, After the fire, and Mushrooms.
Appearance
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Type | Contains a collection of 3D grass material grass types you can customize. The grass types are as follows:
|
Random seed | Specifies the value used to randomize the appearance of the 3D grass. The same seed value always gives the same randomization results. You can enter the value manually or click the icon to automatically generate random seed values. |
Scale | Reduces or enlarges the size of the 3D meshes that represent the grass clusters and the blades of grass. As the scale changes, the uniformity of the grass density is maintained. The scale of the underlying surface texture is also managed by this setting. Options: 0.5 to 2.0 |
Cut | Simulates the look of grass that has been cut or mown. By default, the Cut value is set to 0.0, and the tips of the grass blades are tapered. As you increase the value on the slider, the grass is cut progressively shorter, and the tip of the grass blades are cut straight across to simulate a mown lawn. Options: 0.0 to 1.0 |
Fuzziness | Controls the fuzziness or sharpness of the 3D grass by adjusting how much light passes through the top parts of the blades of grass. Higher values make the 3D grass appear more soft and fuzzy. Options: 0.0 to 1.0 |
Spawn angle | Determines the maximum angle of the surfaces on which 3D grass can be applied. 3D grass is not applied on surfaces that go beyond this angle. The spawn angle manages the appearance of the underlying texture beneath the 3D meshes that represent the blades of grass. Options: 0° to 180° |
Accent meshes
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Type | Contains a collection of accent meshes you can apply on top of the 3D grass material. The types of accent meshes are as follows:
|
Probability | Controls the density of the accent meshes on the grass. Options: 0% to 100% |
Color
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Enable | Enables the Tint and Amount settings. |
Tint | Opens the color picker, where you can select a color to tint the 3D grass material. |
Amount | Defines the amount in percentage of the tint on the 3D grass material. Options: 0% to 100% |
Dryness | Adds a dry grass effect to the 3D grass material. Options: 0.0 to 2.0 |
Color variation | Controls the variation and intensity of the color by increasing or decreasing the saturation of the color. Higher values increase the saturation, which decreases the color variation. Options: 0.0 to 2.0 |
| Mowing patterns | |
Enable | Enables the Mowing patterns effect on the 3D grass material. |
Tint | Opens the color picker, where you can select a color to tint the mowing pattern. |
Intensity | Sets the intensity of the mowing pattern tint. Options: 0% to 100% |
Mask | Sets the mask that is used to define the shape of the mowing pattern.
|
Tiling | Changes the size of the tiling pattern proportionally. Options: 0.0 to 10.00* * This value can be overridden. |
Rotation | Defines the direction of the mowing pattern. |
Misc.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
Affected by wind | When selected, the 3D grass sways back and forth following the wind speed and direction. By default, the setting is enabled. |
Weather | When selected, weather settings such as rain and snow affect the 3D grass. By default, the setting is enabled. |
