To generate realtime animation from an audio device it is necessary to create a MetaHuman Audio source in Live Link.
While this page refers to a microphone, any connected USB audio capture device supported by Window’s Universal Video Class (UVC) driver can be used.
Create a MetaHuman Audio Live Link Source
Click Add Source and select the MetaHuman (Audio) option.
Select the newly created source to show the Live Link source settings in the right hand panel.
Select an available Audio Device from the Create section.
(Optional) Specify a Subject Name. This is used to configure the MetaHuman for Live Link animation input. If not specified, the Audio Device name will be used.
Click Connect. This will start the microphone audio stream and create a subject with the chosen subject name.
When successfully connected, the new subject will appear in the list of available subjects with a green tick icon to show that it is operating normally.
Configure the MetaHuman Audio Live Link Subject
Selecting the new subject within the list will show the subject settings where you can check that the audio is being received by viewing the Monitor section.
You can choose to override your mood. Under Controls > Mood, you can select from a list of alternative moods, and specify the intensity for the mood. Neutral has no intensity.
Neutral
Happy
Confident
Excited
Playful
Sad
Bored
Fear

Once configured, the new subject is ready to use to animate your MetaHuman character.
The volume meter is an indicator that the microphone is live — it is not a true audio level monitoring tool.
Some microphones may filter out certain sounds, like a hand-clap, due to background noise-suppression at the hardware or driver level.
