MetaHuman Creator provides a number of Animation Sequence assets. These are part of the additional content that must be enabled during install when using MetaHuman Creator. They can be retargeted to your assembled MetaHuman character.
With Plugin Content enabled in the Content Browser, the Animation Sequence assets can be found in /MetaHumanCharacter/Optional/Animation/TemplateAnimations.
This workflow is the same whether retargeting animation for the face or body.
Find the Animation Sequence asset to retarget in the Content Browser. Right-click on it and select Retarget Animations.
Select the Target Skeletal Mesh. Either by:
Select the body Skeletal Mesh of your assembled MetaHuman character,
Or, select the identity Skeletal Mesh and use runtime retargeting.
Select the retargeter.
If retargeting animation for the face, we recommend enabling the option to Auto Generate a Retargeter.
If retargeting animation for the body, we recommend selecting the RTG_MH_IKRig retargeter in the Retarget Asset field. This has been optimized for MetaHuman full body IK solve.
Search for the animation to retarget.
Click Export Animation. Set an export location and click Export.
When exporting, we recommend using a prefix to help identify it as retargeted animation.
Once retargeting is complete, the new Animation Sequence asset will be shown in the Content Browser.
