Fab is Epic's open marketplace that provides digital content creators a single destination to discover, share, acquire, and sell digital assets. You can acquire and sell MetaHuman characters and MetaHuman-compatible assets on Fab. These assets are available under the MetaHuman channel.
MetaHuman Manager
These products are intended to work with MetaHumans and use the new MetaHuman format (.mhpkg
). The MetaHuman Manager in Unreal Engine (UE) verifies and packages assets in the .mhpkg
format, making the assets ready for publishing.
As a buyer, you can add any products you acquire that use the MetaHuman format directly to your Unreal Engine project.
As a publisher, any MetaHuman-related listings you published before UE 5.6 are still active. However, the listing does not contain the .mhpkg
format. We recommend verifying and packing the posted asset with the MetaHuman Manager to ensure compatibility.
MetaHuman Product Types
Several product types are available on Fab:
Editable Characters: An instance of a MetaHuman Character asset that has not been assembled and is open to further modification.
Character Assembly: The character Blueprint (and any other assets) created during the assembly of a character. A character assembly could contain assets for UE Cine, or UE Optimized target platforms.
Grooms: In the form of a Groom and Groom Binding. Depending on the nature of the hairstyle, these products can be used with the Hair, Eyebrows, Eyelashes, Mustache, Beard, and Peachfuzz slots in the wardrobe of a character.
Skeletal Clothing: Clothing created for a specific MetaHuman body shape(s) that is not able to be resized automatically. Skeletal clothing is created as a skeletal mesh asset. You can use these products with the Skeletal Clothing slot in the wardrobe of a character.
Outfit Clothing: An outfit created using the Chaos outfit asset. Outfits may be resized to automatically fit certain MetaHuman body shapes. You can use these products with the Outfit Clothing slot in the wardrobe of a character.
Groom and clothing products may include other assets (such as textures, materials, static meshes), and may also contain a MetaHuman Wardrobe Item asset.
