MetaHuman Creator enables you to create high-fidelity, digital human characters assembled into game-ready assets for use in your project. With control over the face, body, hairstyles, clothing, and materials, MetaHuman Creator creates fully rigged characters ready for animation.
Quickstart
To create your first MetaHuman character using MetaHuman Creator:
Install Unreal Engine 5.6, making sure to enable the MetaHuman Creator Core Data in the install options.
Create a new project and enable the MetaHuman Creator plugin.
In the Content Browser create a new instance of the MetaHuman Character asset.
Double-click on the asset to open the MetaHuman Creator asset editor to begin creating your character!
Assemble the character using the UE Cine pipeline to create the character blueprint and add it to a level.
MetaHuman Creator in Unreal Engine
As of Unreal Engine 5.6, MetaHuman Creator is fully integrated into Unreal Engine, providing you with greater flexibility and customization in creating and adding MetaHumans directly into your project.
This documentation covers MetaHuman Creator in Unreal Engine only.
MetaHuman characters for Unreal Engine 5.5 and earlier should continue to be created and edited in the MetaHuman web application. Information about the web application can be found under the 5.0 - 5.5 version of the documentation.
If you are upgrading to Unreal Engine 5.6, refer to the workflow changes, upgrade scenarios, and MetaHuman Creator migration guide for details about migrating existing characters to MetaHuman Creator in Unreal Engine. MetaHuman characters upgraded from the web application to Unreal Engine 5.6 are subject to the terms of the Unreal Engine EULA.
MetaHuman-Compatible Content on Fab
MetaHumans (editable and assembled) and MetaHuman-compatible assets (clothing and grooms) are available on Fab to purchase (for free or at a cost) for use in your project.
