To import a MetaHuman body DNA file, navigate to the File > Import from DNA menu in the main Pose Editor window.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
Import Skeleton | Create a skeleton from the data in the DNA file. If this is not enabled, the process will attempt to find a matching skeleton in the scene. |
Import Geometry | Import the geometry and skinning into the scene. |
Unpack RigLogic | Enabling this allows you to unpack the RBF and Swing/Twist data from a DNA file into a format that can be easily edited. |
Unpack RBF | Unpack the RBF data from the DNA file to UERBFSolver nodes. |
Unpack Swing/Twist | Unpack the swing and twist setups from the DNA file to SwingTwistEvaluator nodes. |
Up Axis | Select the up axis to use, either using the default from the DNA file or overriding with Y and Z. |
Convert Coordinate System | When disabled, DNA data is automatically converted to Y Up to match the coordinate system used by MetaHumans in Unreal Engine regardless of the Up Axis. If Z is specified as the Up Axis, the root joint is rotated 90 degrees in the X to ensure baked animation data transfers consistently between Maya and Unreal Engine. When enabled, DNA data is converted to the coordinate system specified by the Up Axis. Selecting Y Up and Convert Coordinate System produces the same results as when disabled, however selecting Z up converts to a different coordinate system. This option is needed to import any Z up DNA file that was exported from Pose Editor using MetaHuman for Maya 1.3.0 or earlier. |
