If you work in a collaborative environment with other Twinmotion users, you can share your User library assets with them. You can do this by sharing the asset files on your computer manually, or by setting up a common folder on a network where everyone can save and share assets.
Sharing User Library Assets Manually
When you add assets to the User library in Twinmotion, they are saved as .tmi
files in a User library folder on your computer. To share them with other Twinmotion users, you can provide them with a copy of the .tmi
files. Your collaborators can then access them in Twinmotion by copying the files to their own User library folder on their computer.
Go to the User library folder on your computer. By default, the folder is in the following location:
Windows:
C:\Users\\[username]\Documents\Twinmotion[version]\UserLibrary
MacOS:
HD:Users:[username]:Documents:Twinmotion[version]:UserLibrary
In the User library folder, select the .
tmi
files that you want to share and send them to your collaborators.Your collaborators copy the files to their own User library folder in File Explorer (Windows) or the Finder (MacOS). Once the files are copied, the assets are available in the User library of Twinmotion.
Sharing the User Library on a Network
To share assets in the User library with other users on a computer network, Twinmotion users must be connected to the same network and have read/write permission to a common User library folder on the network.
When Twinmotion users share a User Library, any changes made to the User library in Twinmotion (such as adding or deleting assets and folders) are reflected in the User library of other Twinmotion users.
On the network server, create a folder for the User library assets.
Right-click on the folder and select Properties.
In Attributes, make sure everyone has read/write permission to the folder.
If you already have assets that you want to share, copy the assets to the new folder.
On each workstation where Twinmotion is installed, open Twinmotion and point to the folder on the network:
In Twinmotion, open the Preferences panel.
In the Settings tab, under User library, enter the path to the User library folder on the network.
Click OK to close the Preferences panel.
