This page provides a brief overview of Foliage materials. For information on the settings for Foliage materials, see Settings for Foliage Materials.
Twinmotion offers a Foliage material type you can fully customize and use to create all types of vegetation such as trees, leaves, bark, stems, flowers, and fruits. You can fine-tune the look and feel of the Foliage material and apply it to the assets you import into Twinmotion to create a diverse range of vegetation.
You can use the following Foliage settings to create lifelike vegetation:
- Backface fade: Simulate and adjust the fading that occurs on the backface of vegetation.
- Translucency: Create realistic translucent effects for thin vegetation like leaves by adjusting the amount of light transmitted from the lit side to the unlit side of the material.
- Ambient occlusion: Add depth and visual realism by adjusting the intensity of ambient occlusion to darken the foliage in the center and make it brighter on the outside edges.
- Foliage and seasons: Manage vegetation lifecycle, color, and leaf variations with the settings in this category. You can make the vegetation react automatically to the Twinmotin seasons and weather conditions, or override these settings and customize the growth, color, and leaf variations according to your needs.
You can create your own custom Foliage materials in Twinmotion using the Foliage base material type and apply them to vegetation assets you import into Twinmotion. For information on how to create materials in Twinmotion, see Creating Materials.
