A preset is a MetaHuman Character that can be used as the basis for creating a new MetaHuman Character. The new character can either be initialized directly from the preset, or by blending between a selection. Each preset is itself an instance of the MetaHuman Character asset. The Preset Library (or Library) is a collection of presets.
The library is initially populated with MetaHuman presets shipped with MetaHuman Creator as part of the additional content enabled during installation.
Whilst you might recognize some of these presets from the MetaHuman Creator web application, they have been updated to show what's possible with the new MetaHuman Creator features. Your familiar characters will now have changes to their face and body to show you more variety than ever!
You can add your own MetaHuman Character assets to the library to curate your own collection of presets.
Editable MetaHuman Characters purchased on Fab can also be used to populate your preset library.
To inspect the presets, navigate to the Presets tool in the ribbon menu.
Initializing From a Preset
To use a preset to initialize a new character, navigate to the Library tool in the ribbon menu and locate the desired preset.
When you apply a preset to your character, you are copying the entire preset onto your current character, which can then be adjusted in any way you need, without affecting the preset itself.
Initializing a new character from a preset will replace the existing character entirely.
Either, double-click the preset, or select it and click the Apply Preset button.

Blending
The shape of the MetaHuman Character’s facial and body features can be changed by blending between three presets. This is described in more detail in the Head Blend Control and Body Blend Control pages.
Add Your Own Presets
Any MetaHuman Character asset can be added to the library as a preset. This is a powerful way to curate your own library of presets from which to initialize new characters or blend between them. You can add presets to the library individually, or automatically by monitoring a folder.
Changes made to the preset itself will not be applied automatically to any other character that is using it. To apply any changes made to a preset, you must select and apply the preset to your character again. Note that this will overwrite any customizations you may have made.
Adding Presets Manually
In the Content Browser, navigate to the folder where you have created the MetaHuman Character(s) you wish to add to the library as a preset. Drag and drop the folder or selected assets into the library panel.
Any presets added manually will only be available for the current MetaHuman Character asset.
Monitoring a Folder
In the Project Settings find the Presets Directories setting under the MetaHuman Character plugin. Add elements to the array for each folder that you wish to monitor.
Once monitored, any MetaHuman Character asset saved into this folder is automatically added to the library as a preset to use. The presets found in a monitored folder will be available in the library of any MetaHuman Character asset.
