Use the Face category in MetaHuman creator to customize your MetaHuman’s skin, eyes, teeth, and makeup.
Skin Controls
Skin properties are divided into three tabs:
Skin (color and texture)
Freckles
Accents (area-defined redness)
The Skin tab is where you customize your MetaHuman’s skin color and texture.
You can configure the following properties:
Property | Description |
---|---|
Color | Controls your MetaHuman’s skin tone. The sliders at the bottom control the picker’s position on the color swatch (U controls the horizontal position, V controls the vertical one). |
Texture | Controls wrinkle density and appearance, which makes your MetaHuman look younger or older. |
Contrast | Controls the contrast between different areas of the face. |
Roughness | Controls how dry or oily the skin appears. |
The Freckles tab controls freckle strength, density, saturation, and tone shift. Customizations become available after you’ve chosen a freckle pattern.
You can configure the following properties:
Property | Description |
---|---|
Density | Controls freckle density. This doesn’t increase or decrease the area of the face that freckles cover. |
Strength | Controls freckle opacity. |
Saturation | Controls freckle color saturation. |
Tone Shift | Adjusts freckle color. |
The Accents tab controls redness in specific face areas. You can use it to simulate different skin characteristics such as blushing, sun tan (or sun burns), dark circles under the eyes, and so on. Adjustments you make here will always be symmetrical.
You can configure the following properties:
Property | Description |

Redness | Controls accent opacity. |
Saturation | Controls accent saturation. |
Lightness | Controls accent brightness. |
Eye Controls
Eye properties are divided into three tabs:
Presets, where you can choose from premade eyes.
Iris, where you can change iris color, pupil shape.
Sclera, where you can configure the sclera, which is the white part of the eye.
The Presets tab contains a number of starting points for different eye colors and color combinations. Click a preset in this panel to apply it to your MetaHuman.
The Iris tab is where you can further customize eye color, iris size, and a number of other properties (detailed below). You can change both eyes at the same time, or change each eye separately.
You can configure the following properties:
Property | Description |
---|---|
Eye | Select whether your changes apply to both eyes, the left eye, or the right eye. |
Base Color | Select a base color for the iris. |
Detail Color | Select a detail color for the iris. |
Blend Method | Choose how the Base Color and Detail Color blend together: Radial: Creates a colored ring around the pupil based on your selected Base Color. Structural: Blends the Base Color and Detail Color together across the iris. |
Color Balance | Controls the balance between the areas covered by the Base Color and the Detail Color. |
Color Balance Smoothness | Controls how smoothly the Base Color and Detail Color blend together. |
Iris Size | Controls iris size. |
Iris Saturation | Controls eye color saturation. This setting affects both the Base Color and the Detail Color. |
Limbus Darkness | Controls the intensity of the outer ring around the iris. |
You can also choose a different iris pattern by clicking one of the presets in this tab.
The Sclera tab controls the sclera (white part of the eyes).
You can configure the following properties:
Property | Description |

Eye | Select whether your changes apply to both eyes, the left eye, or the right eye. |
Tint | Controls the color of the sclera. |
Brightness | Controls the intensity of the Tint color. |
Sclera Rotation | Controls the rotation of the tiny veins in the outer layer of the sclera. |
Vascularity | Controls the density of the veins below the sclera surface. |
Veins Rotation | Controls the rotation of the veins below the sclera surface. |
Teeth Controls
Teeth controls provide granular customization for your MetaHuman’s teeth.
Teeth controls in MetaHuman Creator.
The top section of this panel is a visual representation of the teeth. It has nine control points (1) you can adjust. Each of these control points corresponds to a setting available in the drop-down menu (2). Adjust each control point by dragging its slider left or right (1), or by using the slider in the menu (3).
You can use these controls to control tooth length and spacing, over- and underbites, receding gums, plaque, and more.
In addition, you can set the following properties:
Tooth Color
Gum Color
Plaque Color
Plaque Amount, which controls plaque opacity.
Use the Jaw Open slider to preview what your MetaHuman’s teeth look like when their mouth is open, partially open, or closed.
Makeup Controls
The Makeup category contains a selection of makeup styles, divided into four categories:
Foundation
Eyes
Blush
Lips
Combine some or all of these makeup options to give your MetaHuman a stylish look.
The Foundation tab contains settings for:
Foundation, which covers your MetaHuman’s cheeks.
Concealer, which affects the area under your MetaHuman’s eyes.
The following foundation properties become available after you enable the Apply Foundation checkbox:

Color | Select foundation color. |
Intensity | Controls foundation opacity. |
Roughness | Controls the degree to which foundation covers your MetaHuman’s face. In real life, this would be the equivalent of how thick the foundation layer is. |
The Eyes tab is where you can select from a number of premade styles that combine eyeliner and eyeshadow.
After you select a style, you can configure the following properties:
Property | Description |
---|---|
Color | Select eyeshadow color. Eyeliner will always be black. |
Roughness | Controls how matte or glossy eyeshadow appears. |
Transparency | Controls eyeshadow opacity. Lower values result in higher opacity. |
Metalness | Controls eyeshadow spread. Higher values make eyeshadow cover a larger area. |
The Blush is where you can add blush to your MetaHuman’s cheeks.
After you select a style, you can configure the following properties:

Intensity | Controls the strength of blush application. Higher values mean more blush. |
Roughness | Controls how matte or glossy. |
The Lips tab contains a number of premade lipstick styles.
