Fab Site and Desktop App
You can explore all Fab products from the Fab website or through the Fab page in the Epic Games Launcher. The page in the launcher is referred to as Fab in Launcher. The Epic Games Launcher is a desktop app for accessing the Epic Games Store, your games, Unreal Engine, Fab, and Unreal Editor for Fortnite.
To download and install the launcher from the Fab website, follow these steps:
Navigate to https://fab.com/about.
Scroll to the Other ways to access Fab section.
Click Download Launcher.
From the download location, open the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
The site and launcher are collectively known as Fab. This document distinguishes between the two when needed.
Searching and acquiring products are similar from both access points. With Fab in Launcher you can export downloaded files to various DCCs and engines from one click. To learn more, see Exporting Assets from Fab in Launcher.
Search and Discover Products
When you open Fab, the homepage is set to Discover mode. This mode highlights content, and contains product types and channels to filter your search. You can look for products from the Discover tab and Search bar within Fab.
Use Discover to browse products and use the search bar to find content based on a listing's title, description, or tags. Click a product to view the listing for more information. To learn more about the product page, see the Preview Products section on this page.
Using Discover
Discover is the landing page for Fab. Use the page to view various highlighted content organized into categories to help inspire your project and begin your search. Click the category name to view all related products.
To the side of the page is a panel with filter links for offers, channels, and product types to help your discovery.
You can also access these filters by hovering over the Discover tab. Choose from Product Types or Channels to navigate to specific products. The filter you select is attached to the search bar, where you can further refine your search. As you choose new filters, the search bar updates.
Hover over products to quickly see available file formats.
Using Search
The search bar is available on every Fab page. Click the search bar to begin filtering content. As you type, a popup window opens with quick filter options like game engines, tags, and publishers.
You can use Boolean operators AND and OR to modify your search using additional terms if your initial results are insufficient (too broad or too narrow, for example).
To further refine your search, use the filter menu and side panel. The side panel updates with a Search In category.
Filter Menu
Whether you are exploring content through the Discover tab or finding specific content with the search bar, you can use the filter menu on the page to refine your search. Similar to the search bar, the filter menu is available on every Fab page.
The filter is dynamic, and options change based on your chosen file format, search category, and the current page. The table below lists all of the filter options. When a product type or game engine tag is not attached to the search bar, all available file formats appear in the Formats section of the filter menu.
Style | Filters based on an aesthetic theme.
|
Technical Features | Filters based on technical details.
|
Formats | Filters based on chosen format type. The format options vary based on which filters you select from the Discover tab or search bar. The following are the format categories that contain specific file formats.
|
Tags | Filters based on an assigned label description (tag) on a listing. Start typing in the search bar to select available tags. |

To learn more about mature content, see Epic Games Content Guidelines. |
Preview Products
After you find a product, view the listing for a description of the product along with the media gallery, license type, price, file formats, technical details, and more.
The Frequently asked questions section list the answers to common questions from the listing's publisher. The tab is an optional feature for a publisher to provide.
When viewing a listing, you can review a product's rating along with comments when provided. The Comments tab links out to the thread for that listing on the Epic Developer Community (EDC).
You can also view the Changelog to see recent updates, fixes, or additions made to the product. This helps you understand what has changed since the last version.
For Fab in Launcher, listings show in a pop-up panel for side-to-side viewing. As you scroll through the products the panel minimizes. You can expand and collapse the listing using the arrow icon. The launcher also includes the option for batch selection for download and export.
You can use the following key commands to adjust the panel.
| Key Command | Operation |
|---|---|
P | Minimizes and expands the panel. |
ESC | Closes the panel. |
Ctrl + Click (Windows) | To select multiple products to add to the panel. |
Cmd + Click (Mac) | To select multiple products to add to the panel. |
Some media galleries include a 3D preview to interactively view details of a 3D model. Media with a lower left-hand cube under the thumbnail indicates you can preview the product in real-time. You can use the right and left arrow keys to navigate through the gallery. Use the F key to expand and minimize the gallery.
To learn how to preview an available 3D product, see the 3D Viewer section of the Using the 3D Editor documentation.

The My Library page lists all products you have acquired from Fab. Use the search bar and filter menu to sort your products.
To download applicable assets, click the download icon. To view the listing, click the product tile.
Epic Games Launcher
In the Epic Games Launcher you can use the Fab in Launcher to explore and export assets to the following DCC or game engine:
Unreal Engine
Unity
Maya
3ds Max
Blender
Cinema 4D
To learn more, see Exporting Assets from Fab in Launcher.
Under the Unreal Engine tab of the launcher, you can access UE files in the Fab Library (previously known as Vault) section. For UE products to appear in the launcher, you must add them to your library on Fab.
UEFN files are not available in your library.
Integrations
Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite include a Fab integration to browse, purchase, and access your products, similar to Fab.com. The feature provides the option to import applicable products into your open project.
Unreal Editor for Fortnite
You must access your UEFN-referenced assets directly in the editor using the Fab integration.
To open the integration from inside your UEFN project, do one of the following:
In the menu bar, click Window > Fab.
Open the Content Drawer, and in the toolbar, click Fab.
When you click either option, the plugin opens in a new window. To learn more about Fab for UEFN, see Import from the Fab Marketplace.
Unreal Engine
The Fab integration (also called plugin) for Unreal Engine is available for versions 5.3 and above. If you have 5.3 or 5.4 already installed, you must download the integration from the Fab Library in the Epic Games Launcher separately to start using it. For new engine installs or updates, the Fab integration is automatically included.
You can access the integration in Unreal Engine after the install is complete from the following options:
In the menu bar, click Window > Fab.
Open the Content Drawer, and in the toolbar, click Fab.
To learn more about the integration for UE, see Fab in Unreal Engine.
Gated Access for Quixel Custom Licensees
If you are part of a team or studio, you may have shared access to Quixel Megascan assets through a custom contract.
You can reach out to the Support team to request access to Megascans, allowing you to bypass the standard purchase flow for Quixel content. You can request either account type:
Full Access: Grant access to all Megascans, while still allowing you and your team to purchase other products on Fab. To enable Full Access for multiple team members, provide the Support team with the email addresses of all those members.
Restricted Access: Limit access to Megascans only.
As a custom licensee, you can set up Restricted Access for multiple team members who have an Epic ID. To do so, you must create an Organization. Epic Games includes the opportunity for partners, studios, and other teams to create an Organization account on the Developer Portal (dev.epicgames.com/portal). Members who log into Fab will have a Megascan-only view.
As a custom licensee for Megescan-only content, we recommend creating a new account to avoid losing access to any other Fab content for which you have entitlements
When an organization adds you as a member, you should receive a notification to your Epic Games account to accept the invitation. After acceptance, the Quixel assets are added to your Fab library without going through the regular purchase flow.
To learn more about joining or creating an organization, see the Organizations Developer Portal documentation. If you’re not seeing Megascans content, please make sure:
Your team has an existing custom contract for Quixel Megascans.
Reach out to the Support team with the organization owner's email address so they can confirm if the team granted a Quixel Enterprise license entitlement to your account.
For team members to have Full Access, setting up an Organization will not work, as the access type requires the Support team to grant it to each team member.
Rate Products
After you purchase your product, you have the option of leaving a rating.
To rate your product, navigate to its listing and click Rate product.
Listings are required to receive at least 5 reviews before the rating is displayed. This means, you still may see No rating yet after your review, but rest assured your rating is logged and taken into account in the displayed rating after the product gets the minimum required number of reviews.
If you grant a product 1 or 2 stars we encourage you to contact the seller to provide direct feedback so they can improve their products. You can view a seller's contact information in the About tab of their profile.
Assets Acquired Before Fab Frequently Asked Questions
Before Fab, you may have purchased items from Unreal Engine (UE) Marketplace, Sketchfab, and Quixel. Below are frequently asked questions for accessing content from these sites. For assets acquired on UE Marketplace, Sketchfab, or Quixel, the license under which you acquired the content is the license that generally continues to apply even if the product is now being sold on Fab under the Standard License.
For help with a purchase or any other questions use the Help option from your profile or Support option at the bottom of each Fab.com page.
Quixel
Where to find past acquisitions?
If you acquired Megascans under paid subscription plans, they will appear in your Fab library under the Quixel Content License. These licenses have been granted in addition to the license that was in place when you purchased the assets through Quixel.com or Bridge. After you re-download your past purchases through Fab, you're still entitled to use the content as per the legacy license terms.
For assets you acquired for free via the Unreal Engine subscription plan, or under a free trial, they are not automatically transferred over. You can download them on Fab and add them to your Fab library under the Fab Standard License terms. Moreover, until the end of the year, you can download Megascans for free from Fab under the Fab Standard License. When you add any Megascans to your library on Fab during this time, you will be entitled to use them under the Fab Standard License terms forever.
You may still access previously acquired assets via Bridge and Quixel.com under the applicable Quixel legacy license. Those products will not receive updates there, however. If you wish to download the updated version of an asset, you must redownload it or purchase it through Fab under the Fab Standard license.
Assets acquired under the Education program or Quixel enterprise or studio license will not automatically transfer over to Fab. For questions related to Quixel enterprise or studio licenses, reach out using Quixel's contact us form.
How long will I be able to access my past acquisitions on Quixel.com or Bridge?
You can access past acquisitions through the Purchased/Acquired tab on Quixel.com or Bridge until those apps are sunset. We will alert you in advance when that happens.
What license(s) apply to my past acquisitions?
Any content previously downloaded through Quixel.com or Bridge is still governed by the license that was in place when they were acquired, so you're allowed to use previously downloaded Megascans assets in your future projects under the license terms that were in place at acquisition. In addition, you will be granted both Personal and Professional Fab Standard License entitlements for any Megascans you acquired in the past under the paid subscription plans.
If I claimed Megascans on Quixel.com or Bridge, will these assets be transferred to Fab?
If you’ve claimed all Megascans on Quixel.com or Bridge on or after November 28, 2024, but haven’t claimed them all on Fab, we will grant you a Fab Standard license to those Megascans on Fab. This process may take several days. After the process is complete, you will be able to see the Browse Quixel Megascans tile in My Library on Fab.
If you’ve claimed Megascans individually on Quixel.com or Bridge after November 22, 2025, we will grant you a Fab standard license but the process may take several months.
If you've acquired Megascans from Quixel.com or Bridge using points obtained from a purchased Quixel subscription, then your Megascan assets have already been added to your Fab library, excluding any deprecated Megascans.
If you've claimed Megascans individually on Quixel.com or Bridge before October 22, 2024, we will not be transferring these Megascan entitlements over to Fab.
How can I access my MetaHumans?
You can access your MetaHumans under the MetaHumans tab on Quixel.com or Bridge. To learn more, see Downloading MetaHumans.
Unreal Engine Marketplace
Where to find past acquisitions
All UE products acquired from UE Marketplace are available in the Fab Library of the Epic Games Launcher. If a product is published on Fab, that product will also appear in Fab under My Library.
Any difference between treatment of products acquired for free and those that have been purchased?
No difference! Any products you have acquired from UE Marketplace for free will continue to be available in the Fab Library of the Epic Games Launcher. If these products are distributed on Fab, you will also have access to them, and to any updates they might receive in Fab under My Library.
How to get updates to past purchases?
If a product that you purchased in the past is migrated to Fab by the product's publisher, updates to that product will be available in My Library on Fab. In case of updates to UE format files, you can get the update in the Fab Library of the Epic Games Launcher. Any non-UE file formats added as part of a product update on Fab are available exclusively on Fab.
How long will I be able to continue accessing old content from the UE Vault?
It is not anticipated that your previously acquired products will be removed from your UE Vault (now called Fab Library). If that should change in the future, you will be alerted well in advance and Epic will do its best to provide an alternate access solution.
What license applies to my UE Marketplace content?
If you purchased something on UE Marketplace before Fab launched or purchased something on Fab under the Unreal Engine Marketplace License, its use is governed by the Epic Content License Agreement (we also call it UE Marketplace License here).
If you purchased something on UE Marketplace before Fab launched, then re-downloaded that product on Fab, its use is generally still governed by the UE Marketplace License (with the exception mentioned below).
If you own a product under the UE Marketplace license and the product's creator releases an update on Fab that includes new file formats, you can keep using the UE Marketplace licensed format with the UE Marketplace license, but if you want the new file formats, you must download them from Fab under the Fab Standard License. In this situation, there are 2 licenses in place: the UE Marketplace License for the base content, and the Fab Standard License for the new formats.
Sketchfab
How long will I be able to access my past purchases on Sketchfab?
You can access past purchases through your Purchases page until Sketchfab ceases operations. At that time, you will no longer be able to download your purchases from Sketchfab. We will reach out in advance of this happening to let you know next steps.
Will my past purchases be transferred over to my Fab library?
Not at this time. We will inform you if we are able to transfer your purchases to Fab in the future. We highly recommend downloading all your purchases through your Purchases page on Sketchfab to ensure that you have uninterrupted access to them. We will reach out in advance should anything change regarding how you access your past Sketchfab purchases.
I was going to rate a product that I bought but it's now on Fab and Fab doesn't recognize that I purchased it on Sketchfab. Can I still submit a rating?
Unfortunately, not at this time. If that should change, we will reach out to let you know.
